Bad Clientel (Dectective Mann Series)

So, there they were, in my office lobby. Living black and white film cells. complete with the grainy black and white film that happens when film reels are aged. The main gangster speaks again saying. So what da ya say Mann, will ya take up our case?

Detective Mann; Depends on what it is?

Main Gangster; An item of power. Our Boss wants it and says you are da best Gum-shoe thar is.

Detective Mann; Which item of power?

Main Gangster; Its called the Pen of God.

Detective Mann; No.

Main Gangster; So when you say no, ya mean, not today, but maybe tomorrows?

Detective Mann; No, as in never. I will not attempt to find such an item of power. It is too destructive.

Main Gangster; Maybes me and my boyz can change your mind with our bean shooters?

Detective Mann thinks, this is going to get messy. Should'nt of been so direct with living film cells. Detective Mann says; How about we approach this in a different way. I will meet up with your Boss and we can...

Main Gangster cuts off Mann; No one sees the Boss. You work through me or no deal. Maybe we should take an insurance policy that will convince yas? The Main Gangster's boys grab Veronica, and as I try to intercede, I feel a blackjack hit my skull!

Must of been out for hours, as I finally wake up in my lobby. I pull myself together and try and figure out how to get out of this mess, and get Veronica back. I lost one too many secretaries in  the past, due to my stubborn streak.

The Main Gangster left his business card, with an initial cash deposit. Says Manny McCabe on the business card. Typical gangster name. The cash is real, and not counterfeit. Regardless, I will be sending the cash back. Big problem is where should I start?

Looks like I have no other choice than to locate the Pen of God. I know exactly where it is, since I hide it away for dangerous hands a century ago.

Suddenly a very bright light blinds me! I tumble to the ground, and I awake in a pile of wood shavings!
